Summer Events Across Bow River
I have had the pleasure of attending several community events throughout the Bow River Constituency in the last few months. My Constituency and Ottawa staff joined me for a series of community roundtables and meetings with officials during the week of February 28.
As summer is fast approaching, there are many communities that will be offering family friendly events for people.
I recently dropped in to a Village Council meeting in Irricana. They have an excellent Summer Fair every year, this year’s takes place on July 16. Last year there were kids races and games, a pie sale, a car show, and many other neat events. This year’s promises to be just as fun!
I was pleased to attend a chili cookoff fundraiser in Chestermere for Autism services. It was a real good time, and MLA Aheer, Mayor Matthews, and Councillor Steeves also joined me at that event where we engaged in friendly competition. Chestermere has its own share of summer activities, including their Water Festival on July 16. There are all sorts of fun activities, such as the artisan market, the, the Rubber Duck Race, Free Boat Rides, and a wonderful fireworks display at Chestermere Lake.
I recently had the joy of attending the opening night at the Rosebud Theatre, and they have a number of activities that are good year round, and some great summer offerings as well.
I was also in Strathmore where I attended their Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting. There’s a brand new event this year called Rec the Streets, beginning in June in Strathmore. They will be offering free fitness classes to people in the downtown core. I invite you to stay tuned for more details.
I was in Taber in March for the Celebration of Learning and Lunch. Taber has a number of fun summer events for families. The biggest bash of the year is the Annual Taber Cornfest. This year it will take place August 26-27. Cornfest has a variety of activities for families and people of all ages, and attracts people from all over Southern Alberta.
There are many more communities across Bow River that have summer events. I am looking forward to attending them, and getting to meet you and know you better. Please let my office know if there are any events you would like me to attend.
