Summer 2016 Activities
Now that summer is here, there are many events that are family-oriented over the summer. I know that many people are considering staycations where they can get away without having to leave Southern Alberta. I invite you to consider supporting our local economy with your tourism dollars!
There have been a number of exciting events already, including dozens of Canada Day celebrations across Bow River. There are numerous events that are occurring in the next few months as well, which will make summer in Bow River very exciting, with many activities for people of all ages.
There will be a big bash in Lomond on July 16th, as they celebrate their 100th anniversary as a community. The Lomond Parade beginning at 10:30AM will be an exciting event as part of these celebrations.
There is the Vulcan Show’n’Shine on July 16th.
Consider the Chestermere Water Festival, which is the biggest event of the year in that community. This year’s festival takes place July 16th.
There are Langdon Days celebrations the weekend of July 22nd, with the Slo-pitch tournament and Beer Gardens beginning at 6PM, and a DJ at 9PM. Then Saturday the 23rd there is the Langdon Parade at 10AM.
I hope that many will plan on attending the Rockyford Rodeo, which occurs the weekend of July 22nd-24th.

From August 12-14th, mark down the 85th anniversary of Milo in your calendars. Milo is a small community with a big heart.
On August 21st, plan to attend the Earl Taylor Day celebrations in the EID Historical Park in Scandia. It’s always a good time, with lots of fun for families. It is a great way to teach our younger Albertans about the history of our area.
There’s the Taber Cornfest August 26th-27th, which is always a major event that draws people from all across Western Canada. Taber corn is renowned for being the best corn around!
Also plan on attending the Gleichen Fall Fair on August 27th.
Let’s make summer 2016 memorable while at the same time supporting our local communities and events.
